I posted this on Tuesday but never made it to the list. Now of course it
is too late, but a report on the meeting is following shortly. -- George

Detroit stereo club meeting tomorrow, 7:30 pm. The subject of the
competition is "wood". This year I feel a bit lazy and have not tried any
new ideas. Instead, I decided to rely on "old stock". Going through my
collection I found about 50 slides with, some stretch of imagination, could
qualify for "wood". I pulled all these out, mounted them in RBT mounts and
projected them for my wife acting as the judge. Here is a small list of
what was included:

- Live Trees with interesting shapes
- Branches, cut trees, sections of trees
- Wooden platforms/rails
- Small boats, larger ships made of wood
- Wooden modern sculptures
- Religious woodcrafted figures, icons
- Firewood in interesting piles
- My children climbing/playing in trees
- Tabletops (all made of wood)

Nothing jumped out as an award-winner, but I was surprised on how many
pictures I was able to "pull out of the woods".

It will be an interesting night tomorrow. I bet that Dennis Hanser will
have an award-winning picture of a red barn (he had one last year). Paul
Talbot has also been busy working on the project. Stay tuned for my report
in two days!
