I think I have read that slides beat color negatives, and that what
used to be called Cibachrome prints beat ordinary color prints.
_However_, a carefully processed black and white negative is said
to be good for a thousand years, so three color separations are
the way to go for long lasting color.
When our children were young, I felt that their little smiles
deserved to last forever on film, so I shot a roll of black
and white every third or fourth time. Later on, after we had
four of them, I used black and white out of poverty. The black
and white stereo slides actually look pretty good.
My slightly younger sister, who habitually carried her slide
rule, a 35 mm camera, and a tripod in her large purse, complained
that she never got advanced enough for black and white
photography.
