I had problems at first with VR97's drivers as well. And I have
a Cirrus 5446 card (yep, it's on the list). I downloaded the
latest version of VR97 (current as of 10/20/97, 327kb large)
from Apec's website (http://www.apec.com.tw). You have
to click on the wrench button that directs you to the toolkit
page. After doing so, I no longer got the incompatible drivers
message, and VR97 opened properly. I then was able to turn
on the 120Hz interlaced mode from the VR97 button bar that
floats on the desktop, and could look at the images using the
glasses.
This hasn't been problem free though since I have only a few
different resloutions and refresh rates for my montior, and some
appear quite dark, and some appear too distorted. Once I
activate the 120Hz refresh from VR97, the screen gets lighter,
but some resolutions are still distorted. I'm sure it has to do
with my video card, so many of you should have better luck with
this. I also find that I have to constantly adjust the screen
settings on my montior, and it being an older monitor without
digital controls, I am very limited in my viewing area. One thing
that greatly helps with Windows 95 is to have a program called
Quickres. It allows you change resolutions on the fly without
having to restart windows. This program is part of something
called Powertoys and can be found as downloadable shareware
on most shareware download web sites. I believe that Windows
98 will include it as part of the package.
I hope this helps someone get it up and running.
There is also a current version (1.1) of PhotoEZ (1.4
MB) available for download on their website.
