I've used a product called PEC-12 (made by Photographic Solutions, Inc,
1-800-637-3212), it should be available in pro-camera stores. It's a
solution especially developed for use with cleaning photo emulsions.
Don't know what's in it, but it smells like airplane model glue I used
when I was a kid. Works great.
