|I remember reading (but don't remember where) that the eyes close distance
|focussing ability is related to age. You can tell your "age", by how
|close you can focus your eyes on an object; such as their finger.

I'm probably wrong in the way I'm remembering this, but my eye doctor
once told me that at age 10, the eye can typically focus over a range
of 7.5 diopters, whereas after 40 it may be down to less than 2
diopters. Typically you get far sighted (have to hold things away
from you to focus), but I'm going the other way - I can see my terminal
screen fine without glasses, but have to wear 'em to drive (at least
if I want to read the road signs :-)

P.S. - it's a real downer the first time you renew your drivers license
and get the "Corrective Lenses Required" stamp...
