I'm curious, did you find the wide angle head and shoulders jewelry shot
distorted, or the medium close-up below on the same page (it shows the chin
and hand of my model)?

To me, the medium close-up looks almost perfectly ortho in my 17" monitor,
about three feet from my eyes.   The visual angle subtended by the image
then matches what would have been seen in my f.l. matched viewer (the
Pinsharp).

The wide angle image appears stretched, because the visual angle it
subtends is much, much smaller than would be the case in the viewer.  This
is equivalent to using a viewer with a much longer f.l (I think?).  It is
also closer to what a projected image would look like.  I do admit that my
slides do not project well for this same reason (because of stretch), and
that they would project better, if I stepped back a bit and used a longer
lens.  But I am not shooting for projection (sorry, but that's the way it
is for now...).
