 Mine did the same and I was able to fix it quite simply. If you take
 the bottom plate off (two screws - nothing will fly out at you), you
 can see the winding mechanism at work. You will need an old film in
 the camera when you turn the winding knob to make the film spocket
 rotate and you'll probably have to wind and rewind the film a number
 of times to see what's happening properly. (Just be sure when you
 rewind not to wind the film all the way into the cassette).
 
 This is from memory but there is a pawl on the take-up shaft axis
 that acts as a ratchet (I think it's the largest lever on the shaft).
 This pawl is tripped (pulled out of engagement) when you activate the
 rewind lever at the bottom of the camera. The lever arm of this pawl
 sits close to the front wall of the camera. In my case, it was
 touching the wall and in this position was not engaging the ratchet
 gear properly during winding. I glued a little piece of plastic sheet
 (about .025" thick, I think)to the wall to prevent the lever going
 over so far and this enabled it to engage the ratchet sufficiently.
 
 I don't know what the fundamental problem is .... whether it is simply
 wear in the mechanism .... but this has fixed the wind problem, is
 simple, non-destructive and easily reversible.

Thanks, Sid.  Your reply went straight into my hard copy file (never know when
my computer will be taken away from me. :-) ).  I'll be opening up and looking
into the camera sometime this coming week.  I just wanted to thank you
publicly on the list for taking the time to respond.  You've done something
like this off the list for me at least once before, and I want to thank you
for that, too.
