In a message dated 97-12-06 20:21:28 EST, you write:

<< I just happened to meet the owner of a lot of movie stuff, including some
3-D.
In particular, he has a lot of "Press Books" issued for 50's and 60's movies.
These were sent to movie theaters in advance of the movie showing, and
contained
various sizes of newspaper ads, movie posters and cards of various sizes
which
could be ordered from the distributer, radio ad scripts, press releases and
stars photos for the local newspapers, and other ideas for tie-ins and
promotions. They are tabloid size, usually 4 to 10 pages, and most have a few
of
the newspaper ads cut out. One mentions and has a picture of a ViewMaster
 display for the theater.

Is there any market for these? (the 3-D ones) Any idea what they are worth? I
think I could talk him out of a few 3-D ones if I offered him a reasonable
 price.

 Thanks,

I have seen these for sale at the Papermania convention that comes to
Hartford, CT twice a year. As always it depends on the condition and the
rarity of the press kit. Price ranges are from ten to hundreds of dollars to
maybe a thousand. I remember seeing one for the Wizard of Oz many years ago
and I think it was something like $750. If he has some for the big 3-D movies
like House of Wax and Dial M for Murder they should be worth a lot.

Does he have any of the magazines that theater owners use to subscribe to?
Magazines like Boxoffice, The Independent Film Journal, Showmen's Trade Review
and Motion Picture Exhibitor. I recently bought about 200 Boxoffice magazines
from the late 60's to 70's for $100. I would lile to buy some from the 1950's
to early 60's. If he does let me know. Thanks
