Eric,
Thanks for the correction. This convention seems to be a departure from the
older (European ?) system of naming lens designs. My library of lens info is
not as extensive as I would like it to be. After reading further I noticed
that the Wollensak "Raptar" suffers from the same confusing designation as
does the "Ektar". (the Japanese seem to follow the American convention).
Give me a Tessar or a Xenar, I know what they are!
