P3D IMAX in London

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get into a (well, actually two...)
preview of the new IMAX cinema in London at the Trocadero.
It will open officially on Tuesday showing several flat (2D) films plus
Across the Sea of Time in 3D.
Last night I got to sea Blue Planet (2D) - the usual stunning IMAX
quality used to display an overview of Planet Earth with footage shot by
astronauts in space.
I also got to see Across the Sea of Time which has been reviewed on
Photo-3d before so I won't do more than to say that the plot involves a
young Russian boy who arrives in New York clutching a set of Underwood
and Underwood stereo cards shot by an ancestor who migrated to New York
and became a staff photographer in the early 20th century. Cue loads of
"Then and Now" stuff.
Very effective 3-D using infra red controlled shutter goggles that were
rather too heavy for my liking and showed up the frame sequential
process in e.g. the juggling scene.
I do, however, wish the projectionist would push the image a bit further
back - they seem to have "mounted to infinity" at the screen!!! i.e. the
infinity points are co-incident on the screen and everything extends
into the auditorium.
I guess this is OK for the usual audience, but I found it rather
distracting. Certainly adds impact, though, with the opening scene
showing the interior of a tramp steamer floating over the audience!
Something else to see when in London.
