P3D more on moon exposure

It's true that the moon is a sunlit object at the same distance
from the sun as the earth. You also have to know that the moon
is actually a dark gray object, although we see it as white.
Also, there is a backscatter effect at full moon that causes
it's brightness to drop off rather sharply before or after full
moon.
