I had some experience with anaglyph projection earlier this year
that many of the people on the list have already heard about but... i used
about tewnty five anaglyph slides in a play earlier this year. chose
anaglyph because of the simplicity and sturdiness of projection...a single
kodak carousel with a zoom lens.
the images were viewable from any angle when projected on a simple white
paper screen.
I had slides made from digital images scanned at around 200-300
dpi, they cost me $4. -6. each and looked really good-. got lots of
positive comments from the audience (though not so much from reviewers)
they were black and white images, made from prints. I liked the fact that
I had a lot of control over the printing and computer fiddling, even
combined antiqiue and new images etc.
In retrospect I realize I could have hand colored and or toned the
images and they would have worked almost as well...I could also have
scanned at higher resolutions and got more complex tonal
relationships...but at the time I didnt wannt to exceed 1.4 megabytes per
image.
another advantage of using digitized anaglyphs is that it was easy
to print the images on glossy paper (ink-jet) and mail them around with the
script for the play. the printed images look very good too....
one side note..I'm red-green color blind but have no problem
working with or viewing anaglyphs...
took me a while to figure out why .....
there are two examples of the images on my home page:
