P3D Great 2D - 3D illustration

I just found one of the best slides to illustrate the difference between
2D and 3D photography, and I took it!!!

Let me explain. Universal Studios (Florida) has these "Photo Stops"
which use what they call "Movie Magic" for your phot opportunity. What
they have is a stand for you to place your camera in. Then, a bit in
front of this stand they have a portion of a scene painted on a board.
Next is a circle you and/or your party stands in and finally, the
storefront buildings behind you.

In my picture, they had the hills of Hollywood complete with the
Hollywood sign on the backdrop board.

So, I placed my trusty Kodak Stereo in the stand, aligned the left lens
with the indicator on the stand and snapped the photo.

Now, looking at it, if you close your right eye, the backdrop scene
lines up perfectly with the buildings in the background and, if the
colors on the backdrop weren't a bit faded, you'd swear that you were
looking at downtown Hollywood.

However, looking at it with both eyes (aka STEREO!), there's no
mistaking that the hills "behind" the buildings are in fact painted on a
board well in FRONT of the buildings.

Now I REALLY wish I could scan it and post it for you. It's really
GREAT!

Regards,
Ron

P.S. Now I guess I'll have to go back and do this with ALL the "Photo
Stops" that Universal has. Maybe next Thanksgiving :-)
