Sounds like 45x107 mm stereo pictures, originally taken on glass plate
negatives, most probably. A Verascope camera could have been used.
This camera takes 45x107 size plates or cut film and was produced from
1894 to just before WWII. A viewer was available from Verascope and
other makers.
How do I know all that?
I am writing an article for the Stereogram (newsletter of the O-hi-O
Stereo Photographic Society) right now. One club member found about
1000 glass stereo plates, negatives and Autochromes in a flea market
in Tijuana Mexico and brought them safely back to Ohio. A rare glimpse
of the past. I saw examples and reproduced a few for this article.
I plan to copy Autocrhomes (old color process for glass transparencies)
in 35 mm film and project them for the club.
Subscribe to our newsletter and read all about this amazing story,
how Chuck managed to pass them through customs with the security
guards almost aiming their guns on him!
That and more for only $12 a year. What a bargain!!!
