Actually this isn't quite true. A 35mm studio camera will only hold about
10 minutes of film. "The Rope" was shot in several (9, if memory serves,
and it often doesn't) long takes. I think David was referring to a more
common practice of subtly moving the camera during long takes to keep them
from looking stale over time (in Hollywood, any shot over 30 seconds or so
is considered pretty long).
