I agree Michael, although I dont think any changes need to be made to
the film, but rather a check made by the projector to see if it is
stereo or mono. I have a JVC brand VCR that checks video tapes to
automatically select stereo HIFI if the tape is so recorded. Since this
VCR cost less than $200.00 three years ago I can't imagine that cost
would be the reason for not having it, but rather that most theatre
owners don't know or don't care. It astounds me that there is a
multiplex theatre that opened less than a year ago in my neighborhood
that normally shows most movies (except for 1 being a larger screen) in
mono or if the audience is lucky, plain stereo with no surround! I would
rather wait for the tape and watch it at home where admittedly my video
screen is of lower quality than a projection screen but my pro-logic
sound system is far superior to any at that theatre!

I talked with a theatre owner, discussing the sound systems etc. and
all he would say was that "until he could see how any changes would
sell more popcorn, he wasn't interested". With this attitude you can be
sure that I will rush right over to twist his arm to show 3-D movies!

Let's see, maybe I could sell him on the idea that 3-D movies have
subliminal messages that cause patrons to buy more popcorn?
