P3D Camera sync in hyperstereo

Hi from another newcomer, to both the list, and serious 3d :-)

I want to do some long baseline hyperstereo - several yards, or tens of
yards - and would appreciate any advice on two-camera sync over this
distance. At present, I am using mechanical cameras (Canon EF), so a
direct electrical connection is not possible. I have found a description
of a solenoid system for two mechanical cameras mounted side by side
(http://werple.net.au/~kiewavly/pentax_rig.html) which looks useful, but
wonder if anyone has an alternative/better solution.

Thanks
Duncan Waldron
