Don't belive in contractions at all? Be sure not to get
into the telecommunications business. We've got acronyms
(extreme form of contraction) that are nested at least
three or for deep (letters in acronyms "stand" for other
acronyms which contain letters which "stand" for yet
another acronym, etc).

As much as a pain it sometimes can be, it's less pain
than having to make a five minute talk ten minutes long
because of the verbosity -- and transfer no additional
information.

P.S. - I'd use "sync'd". At least for engineering use, "sync"
is used much more than "synchronize" so much that "sync"
*is* the word, and the long version is an anti-contraction.
        :-)
