As I've mentioned from time to time, what I've done for special processing
(Stereo mounting in particular) is to print a little 1" x 3" or so sign
with LARGE RED LETTERS (one could use a felt pen and paper instead) then
rubber-band the sign (facing outward) to the film cartridge itself in
the envelope. They have to take it off to process the film and should
gain their attention with higher percentage than writing on the outside
envelope.

Should work for "do not mount" as well. I've printed similar signs
on Avery self-adhesive labels for when I go to a local shop for slide
processing so I can put it on their envelope (for shops who just
write it in very scribbly handwriting). They look at me kind of
nasty, but they haven't messed up where I did that (and they DID
mess up previously which is why I tried that). :-)
