Some student of propaganda could have a field day studying the extent to
which people's "memories" of the past are the invention of present-day,
uninformed copywriters. Here's someone else who clearly remembers seeing 3D
movies in the '50s through anaglyph glasses, despite the fact that no such
film existed. Not a single feature film of the early '50s 3D cycle was
released in anaglyph format. The anaglyph prints of "It Came From Outer
Space" and a couple of other '50s features that are floating around today
were not produced until the early '80s, for ease in re-issuing. The
anaglyph glasses of the early '50s were used exclusively for the comics and
magazines -- NOT the movies! (And while we're at it, "The Thing" was never
released in 3D at all. It pre-dated the 3D movies by a couple of years.)
