P3D Petrified Forest

To all of you snow birds looking to get away from it all...
I just got back two rolls that I shot last week in the Petrified Forest of
Eastern Arizona. On Friday the 16th of January, I walked around in shirt
sleeves and 60 degree weather. But the landscape was superb! The
petrified wood comes in many colors and the background painted desert is
reminiscent of Georgia O'Keefe paintings of the Southwest. Plus, with all
of the petrified logs lying around, there are some great opportunities for
depth. Compare to the Grand Canyon, (about equidistant in the opposite
direction) I much prefer Petrified. Even the wood fragments that are
scattered about remind one of walking on rock candy.
Nearby you also can get some nice shots of old Route 66 culture.
There's a nice Wigwam Motel in Holbrook.
So, if you get the chance to motor west
take the highway that's the biway that's the best
Get your kicks, on ROUTE 66.
Enough Arizona boosterism
