Gavin,
I was there (Tokyo) in '95. Saw a lot of interesting places
and things but nothing 3D. You really should try to make your
way into a camera shop and report on the prices they are asking
for the typical camrera. You'd be amazed how $$$$ they are! And
they come from there!! Also, try to make your way to the Tokyo
Tower (the Eifle Tower of Tokyo I never even knew they had one).
There are a lot of stereo photo-op's if you take the ride to the
top. I have an excellant image out of the window of the elevator
looking out over Tokyo as we passed a bank of micro wave antenna
dishes hanging off the side of the tower, really impressive! Also,
try to make it to the Ginza district at night, there are millions
of lights there with the hugh neon Coke signs and all. Bone up on
nigh time photography. I shot with Ektachrome and there wasn't
the latitude in the images like I wanted. Even though I had good
exposure with some of the lights, I couldn't make out much detail
of things that weren't lights. Maybe print film would have worked
better.
I had a great time there (I'm glad work paid for the trip) and I
found it a very safe place to explore around. Good luck and shoot
a lot of film.
