P3D Re: 3D-CD glitch
Regarding Tom Martin's response to armchair lawyers, in cases when
someone says that you cannot (legally) do that, I like to ask
"what if?" So, what is the worse that can happen to Dan (or
whoever) if he decides to include the P3D archives without the
permission of everyone who has posted there, given his stated
intentions about the distribution of this material? What grounds
would anyone have to sue him, or try and harm him in any way?

The fact that someone "blasted something to a thousand or more people
world-wide" via photo-3d, does not mean that they will also like to see
it published in Stereo World or the Newsletter of the Stereo Club of
Southern California.
The reason for this hesitation is that things can be taken out of
context and that typical Stereo World readership (mainly REALLY
OLD people who have no clue what the Internet is all about :-))
is different than photo-3d readership. Not all photo-3d material
is also Stereo World or 3D-News material. Hopefully, the editor
has common sense... but then, you never know...
If, thanks to the use of email or a simple phone call, this
permission can be given in a matter of hours, then there is no
excuse to use such material without permission. In my mind,
this is a matter of common courtesy.
The case of the CD-ROM, as I see it, is different, because the
postings are preserved in their original environment. Plus, they
are distributed among people who participate in this activity.
