I took a decidedly low-tech approach to this. It involves attaching
adhesive-back velcro strips to the front plate, but my Realist already
looks like it was hit with an ugly stick, so I could do this with impunity.
The other half of the velcro is attached to a slide mount with an opening
cut out of the center for the viewfinder (my first go was with a cardboard
7p mount, but a RBT full-frame would be ideal). A well-stocked camera
store will sell 75 mm square filter gels, which you can cut to fit the
mounts (and have enough left over for a second pair!)
The plus here, of course, is you have a wide variety of brand new filter
material at your disposal - I used this setup with 80A blue for color
correction of tungsten light and was quite pleased with the results.
Re: polarizing filters, I would be very interested to hear how a Realist
could use them...an earlier poster enthused on their being essential to cut
glare off foliage, and it would be great for under-surface water shots -
but how do you get two filters lined up (three if you include the
viewfinder?) (I see where my setup would be useless here.)
