I'd back up George regarding using the camera's built in viewfinders. By switching to a
mid-mounted viewfinder you WILL gain a finder that is more representative of the final view but
it's at a pretty big cost. It will be VERY hard to get the finder centered with respect to the
camera's lenses. It's a pain to mount (bottom of the bar maybe). It'll also suck (in terms of a
viewfinder) relative to the built-in ones. The image will be smaller, you'll have to check the
regular viewfinders for focus anyway etc etc.
That being said...
The thing to use is the viewfinders they made for old rangefinder cameras. These did NOT
have TTL viewers and relied on auxillary viewfinders for everything but a normal lens. The nice
ones had little turrets on the front with 35, 50 and 100mm lenses so you could see the view with
any of those three. If you want a stereo viewfinder (kind of a waste in my opinion), just get two
of them and mount them to match the seperation of your eyes.
