The primary problem with the series of questions as I see it is that it jumbles up cameras and
viewing systems. I think it would be fairly simple to define something as a "Realist Format" (or
Viewmaster or whatever) CAMERA or a "Realist Format" viewer etc. But to make a direct
connection between the two is a gross over-simplification. It may be true (not necc true, just
maybe) that MOST people use a Realist Format camera (or Viewmaster or 7P or Lenticular) and
resign the images to their respective "manufacturer intended" formats. But there's plenty of folks
who don't. Alex is right to point out that there's plenty of factory-built variations on the themes
too. I think that most people would count the MacroRealist as a "Realist Format camera" but it
doesn't use an interlaced film progression.

A format CERTAINLY isn't defined by the kind of film you use (print vs slide). Prints can be
made from slide film and slides can be made off print film. I've used Dale to dup negs I shot in a
Viewmaster camera. Once I even had them print them. You have to chop down the prints and
tape the pairs together, but you get a lot of little print pairs. They're handy for previewing the
images and deciding how you want to organize your reels.
