No, Patrick, you're not. Although I don't use anything as old as the 50s,
I am hanging tightly on to my old Canon EFs (made 72-78), as I *like* a
brass camera. Come to think of it, most of my cameras have been decidedly
"retro" - including two TLRs. The most modern one I ever bought, the Nikon
F301, I sold fairly quickly - just didn't like it. The first Canon was
bought new, and I like it just as much now as I did then. I subsequently
lost it, bought the Nikon, and then had to go back to the old Canons. In
my work, I use Hasselblads, Nikons, and the like, and they are excellent
tools, when you need them to do a specific job, but using a beloved
instrument goes beyond mere need. It's just a pity I can't properly sync
the oldies for 3d! Now, who said something about the Minolta X700...?

Then of course, for real retro, how about the pinhole camera? I *do* like
them...
