Not a stupid question, just a silly one ;-) Yes, all 35mm cameras will
accept all 35mm film; however, how they respect the film, is another
matter. You can put neg film in any old box with a hole in the front, and
you will get some sort of result, because of the forgiving nature
(exposure latitude) of neg film. (Well, heavens to betsy; there's Dr T on
the same question.) Slide film, on the other hand, needs to be accurately
exposed for good results. Therefore, if you use a cheap camera, you may
not be able to depend upon good exposures, and if it's an auto-everything,
you probably have no control over the results. Do you want to point and
shoot, or are you willing to set your own exposures, etc?

I guess if I wanted $40-type cheap, I'd go and get a couple of second hand
compacts, 70s vintage, say. Even the old Olympus Trip, which sells s/h
here for about 30 pounds ($45-50). Good luck with the hunt.
