P3D Re: Realist system flawed? Last word.

Friends:

looking back over this very feisty thread, I've been trying to see where I
might have made some mistakes.  If I go back to the very beginning I think
I can see my error.

Dr.T. had ribbed me about not thinking of the Realist, in response to my
musings about a motor driven, auto focus, twin rig SLR (preferably Nikon).
This was my fantasy rig, that would allow me to shoot handheld (although I
would not want to take it in my backpack!).

My response to Dr. T. _should have been_:  The Realist is not for me,
because I am trying to popularize stereo photography with a system that
allows the creation of high quality stereo views that can be easily and
inexpensively distributed to very large numbers of people.  Possibly
commercially.

The same factors that will allow this could possibly have made a difference
to the success of the Realist system, had they not been absent.
