P3D Realist format vs. Realist camera
There appears to be some problems with the list... and I also
have frequent problems with my freenet account. I have not seen
Digest No. 2589 with a reply by Mike Watters but from a few quotes
I have seen, I realize that we have this issue again of Realist
camera vs. Realist format.
I saw the discussion with Boris as a discussion of formats in the first
place. Also, as a discussion of the relative merits of twin SLR camera
systems vs. stereo cameras like the Realist, Belplasca, or even the RBTs.
>From Boris' point of view, it makes no difference if the alternative to
his twin SLRs is a Realist or a Belplasca or even an RBT-S1.
Personally, I could not care less for the Realist camera!!! But I do care
for the format. With the Realist format in common I can share my work
with other stereo enthusiasts all over the world and I can use the wide
range of accessories (some new, some old) made for this format, like TDC
projectors, viewers with achromatic lenses, RBT mounts, etc.
Here in front of me I have slides mounted in 7p mounts. Some of these
slides were taken with an RBT-S1 camera while others with my Realist
which has been modified for 7p. It makes little difference (for me)
which camera took which picture. The end results is the same. And
I call it "Realist format".

PS. The RBT-S1 in my mind is a Stereo Realist with modern features!
Check my impressions in "Stereo World" Jan/Feb 1997, p. 29.
