P3D VM hypers and close-ups

I've just been mounting some of
my VM backlog including some
of a nearby fortified Elizabethan
manor house. One of my shots was
taken from the top of a tall tower,
looking down at the courtyard,
chapel, and a ruined wall with
huge empty window in. As an
experiment I took some hypers
by resting the camera on the top
of the tower wall taking a shot,
then shifting it across about a
metre and taking another shot.
I took a lot of care with the framing,
noting the edge and corner points
of my views , so that they matched
up appropriately. I then mounted
the left hand chip
of the left view and the right hand
chip of the right view- and got a
superb hyper ( just like a 3Discover
shot!).
A few years ago there was a do it
yourself article in ReView magazine
showing how to build a hyper
attachment for your VM Personal
using styrofoam and mirrors. Did
anyone on the list ever build or use
one?
At the other end of the scale I've
just been experimenting using the
36inch close up attachment for the
VM personal on the VM Mk2. As far as I
know there was no close up attachment
made for the Mark2 . The first
test shots seem to have worked well.
The only problem is fixing the attachment
in place. I wanted to take it on and off
during the test , so used blu-tack and
held my breath. No accidents luckily,
but I'd like to find a more secure method
which still allowed easy removal and
fitting. Selloptape would be fine for
security but messy when taking on and
off. Any bright ideas?
Any plans for a VM chip swap again this
year?
Kind regards,
John Bradley
