My original question was for viewing although looking at it now 
I see that I failed to specify what it was for. I am doing some
experimentation with viewers and so far have not been very 
satisfied with standard or even halogen bulbs. Recently many 
small flourescent lamps have become available and I was trying
to get an idea of what would be most suitable without buying
all of them to test. 

Since my post I have also heard that UV radiation may be a 
problem if using a flourescent. Do you have any thoughts on this?
