While on the subject of 2-D versions of "feeling like you're there",
I watched (or rode?) an IWERKS Dino Film and Universal's Back to
the Future film, which both used motorized chairs or cars that
moved in sync with the IMAX grade film image. A great ride!
Universal's "T2-3D" used motorized chairs, but the chairs were
nowhere near as effective as the two above features. (Perhaps they
were afraid that too much movement might shake off one's 3-D glasses!)
But T2-3D made up for that with 70mm@xxxxx 3-D, which had a 3-panel
"Cinerama" type of ending. ...Excellent!
