I would like to add some info to the ongoing discussion about projector
bulbs: 
500W incandescent bulbs  last 25 hours
500W halogen bulbs last 100 hours

750W incandescent bulbs last 25 hours
750W halogen bulbs last 200 hours

price for halogens is $32 each - from 3D from Dalia

Our own [rather primitive] tests have shown that the halogens are
appproximately 10% brighter.  They are also smaller and one could argue
that because of their size, more air circulates around them and thus they
run cooler.  To my knowledge no tests on this hypothesis have been
performed.
