Well what a day for 3-D! I just got home from the
Oakland Camera Club showing of our 43rd International
Stereo Exhibition. It was a great success, well
attended and much appreciated by all. Thanks to
John Bercovitz, Eddie Hosey, Barrie Bieler and
others. When I got to my door there
was a box waiting-- yep, the Nu-View camcorder
adapter.

It is getting late so I can only give a brief
report at this time, but here are the main
observations.

1. It works, good 3-D.
2. Very little flicker.
3. Ghosting will be a problem with bright objects
   and high contrast.

It is easy to set up. I was watching my 3-D recording
after only about five minutes-- o.k. maybe ten. One thing
that will take some practice is using the convergence
adjustment. You have a great deal of control, you can
set it anywhere from 3 feet to infinity. I found the
most difficult part of attaching the adapter to be getting
it straight (level). Not that it is hard to adjust, just
that the camcorder doesn't provide a good flat surface to
use as a reference point. Maybe I can use two levels, one
on the camcorder and one on the adapter, then again perhaps
it isn't that critical.

One important difference is that the adapter reduces the
brightness of the recorded image by close to half, by my
estimate. This might only be a problem in low light
conditions. Unfortunately it is night time so I can't
comment on how it records daylight scenes.

More later as I try it out under normal use.

Harolddd.
