P3D Fortune Mag Sept 1938

Interesting quote from 1938:
"In the field of three dimensional movies, which Polaroid has produced
experimentally in color, the company has this year budgeted $35,000. On
this point it is worth noting that, so far as Inventor Land can see now, it
will always be necessary to wear Polaroid spectacles to get the three
dimensional effect of these movies. Since this means selling more
spectacles Polaroid scarcely considers it a disadvantage. And Polaroid
thinks that moviegoers would be willing to wear the spectacles in order to
get the effect of actually being in the room with Mae West, instead of just
being invited up to see a flat image on a screen. Yet just as movies are
secondary to automobiles, so far as Polaroid's present plans go, so
entertainment pictures are second to industrial pictures. Land thinks he
has a real field in supplying salesmen with three dimensional movies of
their samples. In many cases the movies would be easier to carry than the
samples, and they would replace expensive duplicates of original models.
With such prospects on its books, there is no telling what kind of money
Polaroid will be making in the near future. Like all other patented
articles, its markups are high. The company does not publish any sales
figures…"
