P3D Computer Graphics plagerism?

I agree that it would be great to have a separate
competition for computer stereo, but until there
are enough entries for such a competition, we should
classify them as contemporary.

I can't believe they gave an award to someone just for
rendering someone else's image in stereo. That is like
buying some great old stereo slides, remounting them and
then entering them in competition. When I create
stereo computer images I don't even borrow object models
from other artists (although I use Poser for human bodies,
and I always give credit to Fractal Design for them). The
code needed to produce some beautiful images are available
on the web and I like to render then in stereo, but I would
never present the product as being my own. I think the use
of other's work is one of the things that makes people
uncomfortable with computer graphics in competitions.
