P3D VM insertion tool

Michael Kersenbrock asked about insertion
tools for ViewMaster film Chips. I've
used two different tools. One was the
official insertion tool provided by
Sawyers. It is intended to help you
slip the film chip in to the pocket.
I found this of no help at
all , indeed it made the process slower
and more fiddly.
The other more useful device is the
pocket opener , which is simply a
small blade to open and loosen the
pocket prior to insertion ( with your
clean fingers). Dalia I think still sells
a version of this called the Speedi
(or similar). I use one supplied to me
by the former owner of my camera. He
had made this himself from a ground down
blade ,about the size of a feeler gauge.
VM mounting is just like realist mounting,
you start off slow and shaky and after a few
rolls you achieve fluency, and have developed
your own preferred style.
Welcome to the world of VM photography!
Best wishes,
John Bradley
