I concur with Ralph. I also bought a Franka SSV-1 from Reel 3-d
last year and slides viewed in it do appear pretty sharp to the edges (and
over the entire image). They do not appear to be manufactured with high
tolerances so perhaps the one purchased by Richard Koolish is a "lemon" and
maybe can be returned.

I own a few different inexpensive viewers that can view full frame
35mm slides. The optics I have been most impressed with are on the
3Discover system. I have been thinking of buying a second one, sawing off
the top and bottom and attaching a Franka slide holder. Has anyone already
tried this? Also, has anyone tried to assemble a viewer using two
commercially available slide loupes?
In case Alan Lewis reads this, I definitely would be interested in his
stereo 2x2" viewer kit should he decide to market it. (I may even break
down and buy one of the Hugo deWijs viewers from Jon Golden).
