P3D Catching Up With Everybody!

Hi, Folks!

It seems I'm getting behind in the P3D discussions, so I'll try and
catch up here.

DP3D (Digital Photography 3-D)

I am in support of a digital discussion group just so more in-depth
computer questions, including photo/slide scanners and printers, could
be asked and responded to in two or three messages, without 50 messages
(or more) complaining that it showed up in the first place! I am
disappointed in the narrow-mindedness of some of the participants in
this group. This is for EVERYBODY interested in 3-D (or so I was led to
believe), which covers a very large number of topics (collecting,
cameras, film, books, etc.). Grow up some of you; if it doesn't interest
you, move on to the next topic. With such a wide variety of topics, I'm
sure there is something in every issue that will interest you. If not,
the next issue is only hours away. This is just my opinion and is not
posted to start another 100 message meta discussion. Let's move on.

It's a shame to see real 3-D topics and answers move from P3D to other
lists because "P3D is such a zoo" (this is what was said by the
participants, not me). There was an interesting question on depth of
field and hyperfocal distance that was moved to Tech 3D for this reason.
How many missed the answer because they don't get T3D? I feel this was a
much more interesting (and relevant) topic than how many times you can
flog a dead subject matter.

CATS 3-D

On the subject of 3-D cats, there is a fantastic cat photographer out
there you may not hear much about. Susan Pinsky of Reel 3-D does
absolutely wonderful close-ups of her cats with her Macro Realist (my
dream camera someday). I don't know if she contributes a show every
year, but I caught a short essay put to music at the 1996 PSA Conference
in Tuscon, AZ.

*Gee, I don't think we even considered a cats-3d list.

*I think I've made more 3D pic's of my cats than any other single
subject. They love having their picture taken. cats-3d sounds good to
me.

*There is even a WEB site for cats in 3-d (mine)

Cool cats, Ralph! Look forward to seeing more. One day I will stalk my
own beasts, when I have mastered flash with the Revere. Now if I could
only get them to sit still…

SOME OF MY WORK

*Dan Shelley wrote:
*BTW, are there any digital versions of any of your work available to
see on the web somewhere?

Yes, I have one image posted in the Members Gallery in the Stereo
Division of PSA (Photographic Society of America -
http://www.psa-photo.org) at:
http://members.aol.com/psastereo (Boris - this is where you can learn
more about stereo circuits and who to contact. David Thayer has e-mail.)
I hope to learn more about Web sites this summer and create my own Web
page. (Ooops - don't want to talk too much computerese! {:>) )

SINGLE SLR 3-D MACRO WORKSHOP

*Brenda Knowlan writes:
*Great! How about a workshop at one of our club meetings?! Please? I
would like our 3D club to have more workshops.

*John R wrote:
*I second the motion!

It is under discussion now whether to have a workshop at the April
meeting, rather than a program after the competition. If it is decided
to go for a workshop, I will be giving "Macro 3-D with One SLR" for
Potomac Society of Stereo Photographers (PSSP), which will include a 5
minute essay put to music on flowers and praying mantises. For anybody
interested, this club is in Washington, DC and we welcome guests and
visitors. Meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of each month. E-mail me for
more information, or go to http://www.gwccc.org and click on PSSP in the
club listing.
