P3D The Bomb in 3D

Yes, there was an amazing short film shown at NSA'97 in the video theater.
It was entitled "Doom Town," a 'lost' 1953 b&w short found and restored by
Richard W. Haines. A true 'stereo noir,' "Doom Town" had for its climax a
3D filming of an actual A-bomb blast. If I recall, the only 3D effect was
due to the positioning of the camera behind a fence or a tree. But the
film itself was a subtle anti-nuclear piece; the 3D gave a chilling sense
of participation in the events leading up to the detonation.
To get back :-) to a non-3D topic: Richard Haines is the author of
"Technicolor Movies: The History of Dye Transfer Printing," considered the
definitive source on the process.
