I suspected (as Peter did) the original scan were resampled
since they looked kinda small for 600 dpi.
The artifact scan lines MIGHT be due to the high dpi setting.
Not sure why that would be the case though but I notice this
with my scanner also. I think you might get better results by
scanning at about 200 dpi therefore you won't have to resample
and the bonus is you might not get those artifacts.
Nonetheless pretty good quality for 5 bucks!
