P3D Re: it's too easy, what's wrong?

Tom:

The thing that is wrong, is that everyone else is doing it the hard way -
because that is the STANDARD.

Although I've just recently started shooting "snaps" with a Realist camera,
I'm thinking of mounting those pairs in 2x2x2 format anyway, because that
is how I shoot and mount my _serious_ stereo material.

I think the way you are doing it is an excellent way to start, and may be a
better way in the long run, as well. Look in the archives for a long
thread/discussion between me and George Themelis under the subject "Realist
system flawed?". I also wrote a recap under the subject line "Twin rigs
flawed?"

But you have already discovered the main advantages to using a 35mm twin
rig: no need to mount manually - that's done by the processor; larger image
size; use of modern cameras.

Some other advantages you might consider: relatively easy and inexpensive
duping and scanning available, and inexpensive viewers will give you a
large, orthoscopic view - as long as you shoot with around a 50mm lens on
each camera.

Yours,

Boris

P.S. I see that the good Dr. has beat me in replying to you. He doesn't
receive this rag in digest mode, as I do, and apparently lives at his
computer terminal!
