Excellent idea.

This will yield far better results than any "slide adapter" will give,
because your scanner is made for reflective media that directly touches the
glass. Ten times better focus and contrast.

The color tweaking is more complex than just "reversing" the colors.  If
you do this a lot you can record the transformation as an action in
Photoshop 4.0.  Then the color swap is just a button click.
