Actually, it is my outlook when judging currently popular technology only -
very short term, indeed.

I do agree with the remainder of your post, and expect digital technology,
and ever improving image presentation media to create a renaissance in
stereo imaging - for static and motion pictures.  But it all hinges on high
resolution imagery being delivered - the implication of your optimistic
post reinforces my thesis that stereo is best "added" to high resolution
images.
