P3D The Achromat Lorgnette is dead; Long live the Achromat Lorgnette

Well, it finally happened.  I sold the last Achromat Lorgnette.  That's
it for the Keystone lensed achromat viewer.

Actually it's just the beginning.  These viewers will last a very long
time, certainly longer than I'll live.  Possibly 150 years from now they
will still be used.

My web page featuring this viewer will now be just a history lesson.  I
don't know how long I'll keep the web page up, so if any of you people
are gathering historical information for your book "Stereoscopes; the
second 100 years" I would suggest copying the page and adding this
historical information:

1) There were 19 units made.
2) The s/n's run from 1 to 20 (there is no s/n 013)
3) There is one unit that is different from the rest.
4) It was designed in 1996, and had a production run from 3/97 to 3/98.
5) The wood box had two different designs inside for holding the viewer.
6) All boxes (except one) are signed and dated by me.
7) The lenses are Keystone Achromat lenses that were originally designed
for use in the Keystone Telebinocular vision testing instrument.
8) The people who bought this viewer not only have what is perhaps the
best portable Holmes viewer, but surely a good investment too.

Am I done with achromat Holmes viewers?

No.

I have another project coming up that will use achromat lenses in a
Holmes scope.  The Keystone lenses are gone for good, but I am finding
other achromats that work very nicely too.

Long live achromat Holmes.
