I really wish I could afford a Realist but ....
Computers I can justify, cameras are an obvious extravagance. I have
been putting off stereo photography until I could afford a good slider
for my SLR when the devil made me do it. I bought two Vivitar T150s for
a twin rig. My wife is away on business.
Each camera with a roll of 12 exp Kodak Gold 400 and 2 AA batteries cost
19.96 CDN. In real money ($US), that's about $14 each. These cameras
are manual everything, buit they have one very nifty feature, you can
switch from standrad frame (24x36) to panoramic (24x78) and back in mid
roll as you wish!!! Better yet, when mounted in bottom to bottom
configuration (ie potrait mode), the lens separation is about 62 mm!!!
When mounted side by side, the lens separation is about 123 mm.
Unlike most inexpensive cameras, you actually get specs!!!
Lens 28 mm focal length, fixed focus 1.2 m to infinity, f/9
Shutter 1/100
Obviously, we are looking at a modern Brownie here!!
I figure the flash is of no value because of the two suns problem. My
co-ordination is not that good!!
There is a built in lens cover. Hopefully there is an interlock!! The
big feature of an SLR for me is I see if the lens cover is on!!
I will try to cobble up some reasonable bottom to bottom and side to
side mounting appartatus and shoot some test shots.
Suggestions are most welcome and I will hold off two days waiting for
them!
For Canucks, they are on sale at Zeller's. According to them the
regular price is $25 CDN ($17.50 US).
