P3D What I would like to see in Stereo World...

Many thanks to John Weiler, former NSA secretary, for clarifying
some of the fine points of NSA and SW editorial policy. I have
a few questions... but overall accept the explanations given.
(I still find it a bit strange that no current NSA officer has
posted anything on this subject.)

And thanks to Jim Dusen for making a solid suggestion of what
he would like to see in SW:

> What I'd like to see are more images and less type.
> ...more photos taken by NSA members and others.
>
> I would further suggest that Stereo World devote one issue
> annually, in color, to the best work of it's members.

Great suggestions Jim. I'll add my few drachmas:

I would also like to see some pictures discussed. How was the
picture taken? What equipment were used? What challenges had
to be overcome?

Also, interviews with NSA members. Tell us about your stereo
interests. Illustrated with stereo pictures too.

Now, a few fine points: There is a column "Assignment 3-D" calling
for members to submit their best stereo images under a given
assignment. (Even DrT has managed to sneak a few of his images
there.) However, there is not much discussion of how were the
pictures taken. Not just one line. A full blown discussion. And
more member's pictures per issue.

Also, NSA is affiliated with SSA (Stereoscopic Society of America)
which is an organization of active stereo photographers who exchange
stereo images in different formats. (I am currently member of all
"Realist format" slide circuits and secretary of the "Gamma folio").
SSA is covered in SW by a regular column "The Society", written by
Norman B. Patterson. Norman tends also to cover history. One idea
would be to change the character and increase the size of this column
to cover images that SSA members exchange. Less historical research,
less coverage of dead and people who are getting to be historical
research... More new people, new faces, new blood. Why is Steve
Trynosky and why does he top the Alpha folio year after year? How
about Naoma and Alan Roe? Dave Hutchinson, Mark Wilke? (Just to name
a few excellent stereo photographers that I have encountered.)

Also, presentation of people who are doing some interesting stereo
work equipment-wise even if this includes "hacking": Allan Lewis,
Steve Spicer. Possible coverage/presentation of relatively "stable"
web sites.

Lets hear some more suggestions and then we'll figure out what to do
with them (possibly a letter to the editor?)
