I tend to echo Dana's thoughts regarding the price of the 3D CD. I tend
to feel that $30.00 is a bit high, regardless of the "...financial
aspects of design, production and sale". In my current financial
situation I have to weigh the cost of the CD along with other financial
obligations. For example, dinner for our family of four at IHOP runs
about $30.00 (with tip). I can buy two outfits (t-shirt & shorts) for
each boy from Walmart for about $30.00. I can get six (well, 5 1/2)
rolls of realist format slides developed and mounted for $30.00. I can
fill the gas tank of our family van for $30.00 which will then get us
from Dallas to Surfside beach for the weekend to visit family.
Don't get me wrong here. I KNOW that Dan has put an enormous amount of
work into this project. Even more so before he found the program that
automatically renames files into the 8.3 naming convention so popular
with those 16 bit systems out there. And, I've even tried to help out
with answers to various challenges that Dan has come up against, such as
a PC version of glimpse for searching the archives. And I'm absolutely
sure that the CD would be a great addition to my 3D library. I guess my
main concern is that my wife would see it as "another toy for YOUR
computer". Well, after $150.00 in rec center classes for our boys,
maybe a $30.00 CD isn't that expensive after all!
Okay Dan, your recent marketing effort worked on me. Sign me up for a
CD.
Regards,
Ron Beck
