Welcome to the list.  Like my friend Rudy, whom you mention, you will be
amazed at the richness to be found here.
You'll find tips on photographing the fireworks on the fourth of July in
Asbury Park, getting the best use of existing light up in Rosalita's
room, indeed these will be glory days.  I if you shoot with a Realist or
Revere or Kodak, for example, you'll be using a camera that was born in
the USA, and how many of those are there anymore?
